Today we had one of the last classes of "Geologia applicata" so the teacher decided that we can go out on the field and do some practical lesson. So we went to Colli Euganei to visit two quarries. First one, Cava Montemerlo is an active trachyte quarry which exploits the rocks and sells them especially to the municipality. The other one, Cava Bomba is an inactive quarry transformed in a really nice museum. There have been found some fossils so now they even organize junior-school excursions where the kids can look for fossils embedded into the rocks.
Is is nice to have such a nice and rustique place as close as Parco Regionale dei Colli Euganei is from Padova, a perfect place to escape from the crowded and busy city in a Saturday afternoon.
The ESN (Erasmus Student Network) Padova has this great idea of showing your culture to others via a small party where you serve traditional food and beverages, play traditional music and let others know your culture. This is what we will do tonight: we`ll try to show the other erasmus students the wonders of Romania through food, drinks and music. Starting from 21:00 at Amsterdam Cafe in V. Vicenza you will be able to experience a blend of latin and slavic cultures, unique on Earth.
And what a better date than today when we celebrate 413 year since the first union of the 3 principalities under the rule of Mihai the Brave, soon to be the new national holiday and celebrated all around the country.
As the title say, today has to be a party night. After studying we have to relax and how better than going to one of the many parties held tonight in Padova. "CelebratiON" will be held in the industrial part of the city on V. Forcellini and from the event description ("CelebratiON è un evento capace di spalancare le porte di luoghi unusual e post industriali trasformandoli in laboratori unici di mode e tendenze. La creatività colorerà di divertimento un evento unico") seems to be a good fun. The weather is against us even today but hopefully by tonight the sky will clear and urge us to get out of the house to experience one more time the paduvan way of partying.
Where is all this rain coming from? How is it possible to be so wet here? Speaking to other erasmus people, the weather is a big issue for all of them. Nobody expected this kind of weather when chose Italy and Padua.
We hear that this was the most humid winter in many years in veneto but why now?
The good thing is that this kind of weather is forcing the people to stay inside and study which is not bad. I can be included in this category as today I spent my day studying, eating and going for a walk in the evening when the rain finally stopped. What a nice feeling that was to go on the streets in the twilight after a rainy day with fresh air and spirit.
Good night rainy Padua
I love it when all the birds are up in the green trees and the sun is shining above us in Padova. The narrow streets offer you shade in the hot afternoon and amaze you during the evening with the chic bars and restaurants.
Why not enjoying a perfect spring day photo-hunting? Well...because of studying for schools, that`s why! Cannot wait for all the exams to pass so I can freely wander around the city with the camera in my hands capturing the paduan everyday life!
This project came to life combining my passion for photography and my love for Padova. Being Erasmus here is one of the best things that life could offer to a student and I am glad to be one of the lucky ones.
